          It is a bit confusing whether to use the present perfect simple or continuous tense. Sometimes there is no or a little difference between the two; however, there are some cases obliging us to use one of them.

         ជម្រើសក្នុងការប្រើ the  present perfect simple continuous tense មានលក្ខណៈច្របូកច្របល់ខ្លះដែរ។ ពេលខ្លះមិនមានភាពខុសគ្នាទេ ឬខុសគ្នាបន្តិចបន្តួចរវាងកាលទាំងពីរ។ទោះជាយ៉ាងណា ករណីមួយចំនួនតម្រូវឪ្យយើងប្រើកាលតែមួយប៉ុណ្ណោះ។

1.      Sometimes there is no difference between the present perfect simple and continuous, because the two tenses are used to talk about a past action that continues up to the present.

          ពេលខ្លះមិនមានភាពខុសគ្នាទេ រវាង the present perfect simple និង continuousពីព្រោះកាលទាំងពីរត្រូវបានគេប្រើដើម្បីនិយាយអំពីសកម្មភាពអតីតកាលដែលបន្តដល់បច្ចុប្បន្ន។

·         Mr. Chantrea has run his private school since 2011.
·         Mr. Chantrea has been running his private school since 2011.

2.      The differences between the present perfect simple and continuous


@ The present perfect simple is used:

a.       for an achieved action
    សកម្មភាពបានសម្រេច
·         They have built a house.
·         My mom has cooked the meal. ( The food is on the table now)

b.      when there is a number or quantity in the sentence.
    ពេលមានចំនួន ឬបរិមាណនៅក្នុងប្រយោគ
·         I have drunk 3 glasses so far.
·         Chandara has visited Angkor 2 times.

c.       with verbs expressing a short action.
     ជាមួយកិរិយាសព្ទដែលបង្ហាញសកម្មភាពខ្លី
·         The rain has stopped.
·         Dalin has broken her leg.

d.      with non-action verbs​(state verb).
      កិរិយាសព្ទមិនបង្ហាញពីសកម្មភាព
·         Mr. Den has known me since 2002.
·         I have owned this house for 3 years.


@ The present perfect continuous is used:

a.       for an ongoing action
     សកម្មភាពកំពុងបន្ត
·         They have been building the house for 5 months.
·         My mom has been cooking the meal since I got home.

b.      to emphasise how long sometihing has been going on till now
     ដើម្បីបញ្ជាក់ថា អ្វីមួយបានកើតឡើងរយៈពេលប៉ុន្មានហើយមកដល់ឥឡូវ
·         They have been drinking all day.
·         Nika has been teaching English for 2 years.

c.       with verbs expressing a long action.
     ជាមួយកិរិយាសព្ទដែលបង្ហាញសកម្មភាពវែង
·         Mr. Chantha has been waiting for you.
·         Miss. Ly y has been seeking a new job for months.

d.      with action verbs(dynamic verbs)
     កិរិយាសព្ទបង្ហាញពីសកម្មភាព
·         They have been singing for hours.
·         The mechanic has been preparing my motor.
